Who went home on Survivor Season 51 Episode 7?

Brady Booker became the eighth castaway eliminated from Survivor 51 and the first member of the jury.

Every Tribal Council in Season 51 has been thrilling, but this one is a certified whirlwind and the first true “live Tribal” of the season thus far. Multiple names were on the table that then boiled down to Eric Kaufman or Brady. After lots and lots (and lots) of discussion, the brody Brady was voted out of the game.

Brady is the ninth person to leave Survivor this season.

What happened on Survivor Season 51 Episode 7?

After one of the hardest Tribal Council goodbyes, Jelly Loblack and Devin Way comfort each other. Jelly claims that even though they’re down to two, they have plenty of tricks up their sleeves. One thing’s for sure, though: They do NOT want to go to another Immunity Challenge as a tribe of two.

Well it’s their lucky day, because – now that we’re at the halfway point in the game – it’s time for all three tribes to merge into one!

Tribes of Survivor Season 51

But before that, let’s take a look at the tribe rosters pre-merge:

The New Toka Tribe (Yellow)

  • An “Thien An” Nguyen
  • Brady Booker
  • Carter Krull
  • Kristin Flickinger
  • Maggie Nestor
  • Mike Pinksy

The New Savu Tribe (Purple)

  • Alexis Levine – ELIMINATED
  • Angelica “Jelly” Loblack
  • Devin Way
  • Jenna Doore – ELIMINATED
  • Ori Jean-Charles – ELIMINATED

The Dina Tribe (Red)

  • Cristian Chavez
  • Danny “Kilby” Kilby
  • Eric Macksoud
  • Linnea Capobianco – ELIMINATED
  • Lewis Kelly
  • Sharonda Cox

Previously eliminated: Aaliyah Puglia, Ana Sani, Patt Cannaday, Rob Antonson (voluntary)

Earn the merge … feast

It’s Day 13 and Jeff Probst hands out fresh (smelling) buffs because we’re mergin’! On top of that, not only are they getting to merge, they’re also getting a merge feast! That’s good news, right? For some reason, Kristin doesn’t seem 100% excited. Hmm. Maybe it’s because in a season where anything from any Survivor season, she knows that a simple merge is too good to be true.

She’s correct, because Jeff tells them that out of 13 castaways, only 10 will take part in the merge feast, and the only way to make a reservation is to take down two grubs. It’s a throwback to Survivor: Borneo (Season 1, Episode 2 “The Generation Gap”) and past castaway Gervase Peterson isn’t the only one having stomach-churning flashbacks.

Brady and Eric run up to take the grubs right out of Jeff’s hand to prove they’re down to eat them. In fact, Eric is brought to tears as he chews, saying “You just made a little boy’s dream come true, man.”

Unfortunately for those two, the example grub doesn’t count towards the two they must eat to earn a seat at the feast table. Not that it matters much to Brady, who finishes his grubs first. Kristin and Cristian tap out, and by the end it’s an eating contest between Kilby and Sharonda who “hates bugs,” but is pulling out all the stops to stop the grubs from coming back up. In the end, however, Kilby takes his down first, and Sharonda, Kristin, and Cristian are sent to camp, while the other 10 castaways head to their smorgasbord. (But not before Brady takes down one more grub, for a total of four.)

Allies reconnect

Kristin, Cristian, and Sharonda may not be stuffing their faces with the delicious charcuterie, beers and wine, but they’re taking advantage of their quiet time to strategize. Kristin shares what she knows about Mike being the odd man out, and Cristian and Sharonda relay how dangerous Kilby is.

When they have a moment alone, Kristin hands Sharonda the Tethered Idol and tells her that she has complete control over when it’s used. This builds solid trust between them, which just might be better than cheese and beer.

Once everyone returns to camp, more realignment occurs. At first, it feels like people are relying on OG tribe affiliations. As a refresher:

OG Toka Tribe: 8 remaining members

  • Jelly Loblack
  • Thien An Nguyen
  • Brady Booker
  • Devin Way
  • Kilby (Kilby)
  • Lewis Kelly
  • Maggie Nestor
  • Mike Pinsky

OG Savu Tribe: 5 remaining members

  • Carter Krull (mutinied from Savu to join Toka in Episode 3)
  • Cristian Chavez
  • Eric Macsoud
  • Kristin Flickinger
  • Sharonda Cox

Kilby and Brady link back up, agreeing they’re each other’s No. 1. They gather Maggie, Carter, Eric, and Thien An and decide that Mike is their target.

As time passes, though, it’s clear playing along tribe lines isn’t everyone’s plan. Jelly reconnects with her Helicopter Alliance buddy Sharonda and tells her she wants to take out some of OG Toka. Mike is also ready to flip the Toka train and relieved to hear that they might just have the numbers to do it.

Immunity Challenge

It’s time for the first individual Immunity Challenge of Season 51! The castaways must balance on a beam while holding up a whale statue with a long pole. There are three phases to this challenge and, with each phase, the stature gets further away, the beam gets narrower, and the time-on-beam gets longer.

By the end, it’s a showdown between Mike and Lewis and the fellas are locked in. Finally, Lewis drops and Mike becomes the first to win individual immunity and gets to rock the beautiful Immunity Necklace – the perfect accessory for ruining Kilby and Brady’s plan to vote him out.

Back at camp

Everyone is making nice with Mike, even though mere hours ago he was on the chopping block. Eric gets a read from Mike that he’s down to vote out Kilby or Brady. Eric hasn’t trusted Kilby since he showed true loyalty to Lewis (Episode 5), so he takes this opportunity to throw Kilby under the bus to… anyone who will listen. Brady hears this and runs to his No. 1 (Kilby) to let him know his good buddy is talking trash and that they should all turn on Eric – especially now that they can’t send Mike home.

In the midst of this, Maggie knows Kristin is dangerous to her game and works to persuade others that she needs to go. So Eric becomes the decoy vote with Kristin as the true vote. Meanwhile, a fire is brewing against Brady. Jelly puts it best when she says: “Something about going further in this game than Brady speaks to me.”

So we have Eric, Kristin, Brady, and perhaps Kilby all being floated for elimination.

Mike lets the weight of that necklace go to his head, and goes up to Kristin to tell her that she must vote Brady out to protect herself – in a tone that absolutely does not sit well with Kristin. Naturally, Kristin goes straight to Brady to let him know what Mike told her.

In a pretty intense moment, Brady calmly sits next to Mike (well, as calmly as Brady is able to do anything) and tells him the cards are all on the table. Mike knows he’s in huge trouble if this vote doesn’t go his way.

Tribal Council

Thirteen torches trail into Tribal Council.

It’s a full house, and there’s a great deal of whispering as Jeff asks each castaway questions. When he releases them to discuss their plans, it’s a true Live Tribal Council as everyone is still deciding their best move. It’s chaos, but Devin – seated in the center – does his best to narrate what’s going down. Finally, Jeff kicks off the vote.

After all of the back and forth, Brady Booker becomes the ninth person voted out and first member of the jury for Survivor Season 51. He walks up to Jeff with his torch, and says nothing as it’s extinguished. He walks out, never looking back.

Here’s a look at how the votes are split:

9 votes for Brady:

  • Mike Pinsky
  • Eric Macksoud
  • Kilby (Kilby)
  • Sharonda Cox
  • Maggie Nestor
  • Jelly Loblack
  • Devin Way
  • Kristin Flickinger
  • Cristian Chavez

4 votes for Eric Macksoud

  • Brady Booker
  • Lewis Kelly
  • Carter Krull
  • Thien An Nguyen

What’s next on Survivor Season 51?

Next week on Survivor Season 51, a decidedly divided tribe of 12 must split into pairs to forge ahead. With immunity once again up for grabs, this should be interesting!
