Whether you’re in the mood to watch fresh-out-of-theatres fare, cinema classics, or delve into curated collections, you’ll hit on the perfect movie titles to fill your February. The only real question is, what film should you start with?

Below is a curated list of new movies streaming this month on Paramount+ (various plans). If you love high-stakes action flicks, why not begin with Old Guy, starring Christoph Waltz and Lucy Liu?

Looking to watch a piece of film history? Pretty lofty request, but we’ve got you: Check out the Godfather trilogy, directed by five-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. That’s The Godfather (1972), The Godfather Part II (1974), and The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone (2020), Coppola’s extended and recut re-release of 1990’s The Godfather Part III. Whether you’re seeing these epic crime dramas for the first time, or for the 50th, a binge-watch is never a bad idea.

February is also Black History Month, and therefore the perfect time to celebrate the work of Black talent on and off the screen by exploring the movie library in the Black Voices Collection. In addition, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, Paramount+ has spiffed up its Peak Romance Collection, an archive of love-centric titles sure to get your heart a-thumping.

Check out our massive movie guide for the month of February. Please note: Certain films stream on the Paramount+ Premium plan only.

The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone

The Godfather trilogy
Paramount Pictures

Even if you haven’t seen them (yet!), you’ve definitely heard of them. You’ve also unquestionably watched other movies (and television shows, and theatrical works, and social media videos, etc.) that were influenced by them. Between all three, they received a total of nine Oscars®, and a jaw-dropping 28 nods, making this trilogy one of the most nominated film series in movie history. Are you streaming (or re-streaming) yet?

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and based on the best-selling novel by Mario Puzo, The Godfather trilogy is about the lives of the Corleones, an Italian-American crime family. The first of the films is set in the 1940s, and finds Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) utterly uninterested in the mob dealings that have surrounded him since his birth. But when his father, the influential mafia boss Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), narrowly survives an assasination attempt, Michael feels compelled to join the family business.

The Godfather Part II demonstrates the climb to power of both Michael in the late 1950s – as he attempts to expand the Corleones’ empire and sniff out betrayals within the ranks – and a young Sicily-bred Vito (Robert De Niro) in the early 1900s. As Michael rises in stature, he becomes less sure of whom to trust. Vito’s timeline, meanwhile, finds the elder Corleone gaining a criminal foothold in New York. The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone wraps up the saga by showing Michael – now in his 60s – attempting to legitimize the family business and distance himself from the criminal underworld.

In addition to Pacino, Brando, and De Niro, the three Godfather movies – each rated R – are stuffed with big names, including Diane Keaton, Robert Duvall, John Cazale, and James Caan. And those Oscar® triumphs? Let us count them:

  1. The Godfather – best adapted screenplay
  2. The Godfather – best actor (Marlon Brando)
  3. The Godfather – best picture
  4. The Godfather Part II – best art direction
  5. The Godfather Part II – best dramatic score
  6. The Godfather Part II – best adapted screenplay
  7. The Godfather Part II – best supporting actor (Robert De Niro)
  8. The Godfather Part II – best director (Francis Ford Coppola)
  9. The Godfather Part II – best director (Francis Ford Coppola)
  10. The Godfather Part II – best picture

And that’s not including the other 19 Oscar® nominations bestowed on the trilogy, or the films’ many, many Golden Globes® wins. We’re making you an offer you can’t refuse: Go stream these movies right now!

Peak Romance

Sixteen Candles
Paramount Pictures

Sorry, Cupid. Love isn’t the domain of a single month, and neither is the Peak Romance collection, a curated treasure trove of rom-coms and love stories on Paramount+ that’s available to check out and enjoy all year long. But since February happens to be the month for Valentine’s Day, this is an especially apt time to check out the collection’s swoon-worthy movie and TV options. Dig a classic love story? Try the 1953 Audrey Hepburn perennial Roman Holiday (or the other Audrey Hepburn perennial, 1961’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s). Ready to melt? The archives are full of stories that represent all of life’s romantic stages, from high-school romps – like Grease, Grease 2, Pretty in Pink, and She’s the Man, to adult relationship hijinx, like Runaway Bride, No Strings Attached, Bridget Jones’s Diary (plus Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and Bridget Jones’s Baby), and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. And don’t forget the tales of first loves (like Call Me By Your Name), dangerous loves (like Fatal Attraction), and doomed loves (like Titanic). What we’re saying is, no matter which flick you pick, we know you’ll fall in love.
