What is the series about?
Like the movie Clueless, the Clueless event series is about Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone). Cher has come a long way since her Bronson Alcott High School days. She’s a successful businesswoman who has mastered motherhood. But now, with her own daughter entering her high school years, Cher finds that parenting a teen makes her feel, ahem, clueless all over again.
Who is returning for the Clueless series?
Alicia Silverstone and Amy Heckerling, the original writer and director of Clueless, will serve as executive producers along with Robert Lawrence, who produced the original film.
Who is writing the series?
When it comes to the script, Cher Horowitz is in good hands. The Clueless event series is written and executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage through Fake Empire. Schwartz and Savage are known for their work on teen TV paradigms The OC, Gossip Girl, and Nancy Drew. Jordan Weiss – who worked on Freakier Friday and Dollface – rounds out the head writing team.
CBS Studios will produce the Clueless event series.
When does the show begin filming?
The Clueless event series begins filming in 2027 in Los Angeles – yes, right where the original story takes place.

Why is Clueless returning now?
The announcement follows several milestones for the film. Last year, Clueless celebrated its 30th anniversary with a cast reunion and 35mm screening at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Also in 2025, the film was added to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
