Anthony E. Zuiker says: As writers, we were all obsessed with connection and chain of events. This passion led to this episode. Grissoms timeless quote, 'A butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil, we get a hurricane off the coast of Florida.' Chaos Theory. Random events. The wholesale rejection of linear thought. This was the driving force behind Paige Rycoff, a college student who vanished without a trace.

Anthony E. Zuiker says, 'CSI Alert. This is the first time CSI was ranked number 1 in the Neilson ratings. The year, 2001. It stars Captain Jim Brass's daughter Ellie (Nicki Aycox). Her relationship with her father is strained due to Brass being a Captain and Ellie a prostitute. The dialogue from Brass cuts a bit deeper in this show. 'Sometimes I hear your voice... even when you're not there' reflects a deeper pain about me not seeing my own kids due to being on CSI full time.'

Anthony E. Zuiker says, 'This episode is a classic. Written by our showrunner, Carol Mendelsohn, and our top director, Danny Cannon, 'The Finger' is a story about Catherine Willows (Marg Helenberger) getting involved in a kidnapping of a real estate developer's mistress. The rabbit shot is so iconic that we blew it up and pinned it in our writer's offices.'

Anthony E. Zuiker says, 'Check out these names. Leland Orser (Se7en) and Doug Hutchison (The Green Mile) star in this nail biting episode. I got the idea when I read about Bjork's stalker Ricardo Lopez who took his life on camera after terrorizing the iconic singer for years. It was so disturbing and tragic, but it did intrigue my thirst for this type of dark pathology. Stalker is a classic. Just remember to watch it with some 'green tea' handy.'

Anthony E. Zuiker says, 'This is the episode that launched CSI Miami with the introduction of David Caruso in this cross over episode. We flew out of the desert and landed in the water to spin off our second successful series. These were the very best times in Hollywood where your boss would say 'Pick a city.' As producers, we'd say 'Miami' and the next thing you know CSI Miami was born. Cue sunglasses being whipped off.'
