Who will play in Super Bowl LVIII?

Super Bowl LVIII will be played by the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. 

The Patrick Mahomes-quarterbacked Chiefs punched their ticket to their fourth Super Bowl in five years by defeating the Baltimore Ravens, 17-10, in the AFC Championship Game. The 49ers. with quarterback Brock Purdy, earned their spot by defeating the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game, 34-31.

Come Super Bowl LVIIII game day, the AFC champs, the Chiefs, will be the home team, while the NFC representative, the 49ers, will be the road team. (The two conferences take turns enjoying Super Bowl home-team honors.) 

With the Chiefs and 49ers set for The Big Game, Super Bowl LVIII will represent a rematch of Super Bowl LIV. In Super Bowl LIV, it was the Chiefs who came away with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. They beat the 49ers, 31-20. 

The Chiefs are in search of their fourth overall Super Bowl win. The 49ers are chasing their franchise's sixth Super Bowl win -- a number that would tie the team with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots for the most Super Bowl wins of all time.

Super Bowl LVIII will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium has been the home of the Las Vegas Raiders since opening before the start of the 2020 NFL Season. Super Bowl LVIII will be the first Super Bowl hosted at Allegiant Stadium – and in Las Vegas. Among Super Bowl host cities, Miami, Florida, is No. 1, having hosted The Big Game 11 times.

Who will perform the halftime show at Super Bowl LVIII?

The multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Usher will perform during the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show at Allegiant Stadium.

"It's an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can't wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they've seen from me before," Usher said in a statement.

The Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show will be available to watch and stream live with Paramount+, as part of the NFL on CBS' Super Bowl LVIII coverage.

The halftime show will begin after The Big Game's first two quarters have been played. In the NFL, a quarter is 15 minutes. Due to game clock starts and stops, including timeouts, a quarter typically runs 30 to 40 minutes in real time. So, in general, when Super Bowl play starts at 6:30 PM, ET, the halftime show typically starts sometime between 7:45 PM, ET, and 8:15 PM, ET.

For the first time, CBS Sports will deliver a Super Bowl broadcast in 1080p High Dynamic Range (HDR) and 4K HDR.

HDR expands the ability of a set or device to better display detail in shadow and bright scenes. Wide Color Gamut (WCG) enables a display to present a broader and more vivid range of colors. Together, HDR and WCG offer viewers a brighter and more colorful viewing experience.

The 1080p HDR feed will be available across most platforms.

When does Super Bowl LVIII pregame coverage start?
