Paramount+ has released the official trailer for Yellowjackets Season 4 – and we’re still trying to catch our breath.
The fourth and final season of Yellowjackets premieres Friday, Nov. 20, on Paramount+ (Paramount+ Premium plan), and – as the trailer indicates – the closing installment of the thrilling drama is going to be a very messy homecoming for the remaining soccer team members. Here’s a breakdown of everything we spotted in the first official look at Yellowjackets Season 4.
But first, see the trailer for yourself (if you dare).
The big picture: Yellowjackets Season 4 trailer summary
The timelines we’ve dealt with throughout the series are getting closer and closer together. In fact, the trailer introduces a new third timeline, as we see the wilderness survivors return home to Wiskayok, New Jersey. They’re lauded as heroes, and only they know just what it took to make it back alive. And as they try to settle back into their lives, it’s impossible – and everyone around them knows it. So why fight it? Switching from their time surviving in the wilderness, their homecoming adjustments, the current-day timeline, and back again is as dizzying as it is haunting.
Breaking down key moments
Opening scene: Setting the tone

Cue “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette. It’s a song we’ve heard before but… different. Ominous. And while we see scenes indicating that the team has been rescued and is returning home, ironically, nothing feels familiar. The fanfare is bright, however, and the community is gathered in a gymnasium as Teen Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown) delivers a speech that carries throughout the trailer. She laments that “It’s surreal to be here. Feels like going back to a different life.”
Returning Characters & New Faces

The cast of Yellowjackets is as vast as the wilderness and now spread across three timelines. In addition to our beloved (feared?) soccer survivors, we see characters of a full New Jersey community, including other high school students (Sam Braun as Teen Jeff Sadecki), detectives (Dulé Hill as Detective Rollins) and parents (Molly Ringwald as Vicki Palmer).
Story Hints & Themes

Back at home, the survivors try to fit in without actually revealing any of the darkness they experienced. There are multiple moments where they look at their own reflections and don’t recognize the person staring back at them. In the current-day timeline, it appears the monsters – both proverbial and actual – they thought they left in the wilderness have come to call. Callie (Sarah Desjardins) is demanding answers from her mother, Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Taissa’s (Tawny Cypress) dangerous behaviors are reaching a boiling point, and Melissa (Hilary Swank) might be prepared to share some long-held secrets with the world.
Final Moments
Taissa ties up her speech claiming the team “survived because of love.” That moment is preceded by a cascade of teases of murderous antics in the present day and quickly followed by the cruel treatment they inflicted on each other in the northern wild. As the super-imposed text on the trailer states: Homecoming is savage.
