UEFA Champions League Schedule

The UEFA Champions League has multiple phases, starting with the qualifying rounds, which run from July 7-Aug. 11, 2026.

Twenty-nine clubs qualify for league play, with the top teams from domestic leagues starting their League Stage in September. However, seven teams must first advance via the qualifying rounds which conclude with playoffs in August.

The UEFA Champions League Phase, which is when the tournament starts in earnest begins Sept. 8, 2026. The draw date is set for August 27, 2026.

Here’s the schedule for the League Phase.

  • Matchday 1: Sept. 8-10, 2026
  • Matchday 2: Oct. 13-14, 2026
  • Matchday 3: Oct. 20-21, 2026
  • Matchday 4: Nov. 3-4, 2026
  • Matchday 5: Nov. 24-25, 2026
  • Matchday 6: Dec. 8-9, 2026

  • Matchday 8: Jan. 27, 2027

For the uninitiated, the League Phase consists of 36 clubs with each team playing eight matches, with four of those matches at home and the other four on the road. The teams are ranked in four seeding pots with each team then drawing opponents from the other pots.

The clubs that finish in the top eight then advance directly to the Round of 16, while the teams that land from Nos. 9 to 24 in the League Phase final standings then play in the Knockout Phase playoff.

The Knockout Phase playoffs run on Feb. 16-17 and Feb. 23-24, 2027.

The Round of 16 plays March 9-10 and March 16-17, 2027.

The quarterfinals take place April 6-7 and April 13-14, 2027.

The semifinals are set for April 27-28 and May 4-5, 2027,

The Final will be played on Saturday, June 5, 2027.

2025-26 UEFA Champions League season recap

The 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League Final was a classic at Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.

Arsenal started strong with a goal from Kai Havertz in the sixth minute, but the Premier League champions couldn’t hold onto the lead. In the 65th minute, Ousmané Dembélé scored the equalizer for PSG on a penalty kick.

The two clubs were locked in a stalemate after extra time, which led to a shootout.

PSG emerged victorious 4-3 in penalties after Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhães misfired and sent the ball over the crossbar on the final PK to secure PSG’s second straight European title.
