What will Season 4 be about?
We don’t know what School Spirits Season 4 will be about just yet, but the Season 3 finale turned the rules of the supernatural world upside down, we’ve got plenty to speculate about. Before we get into an explanation of how that episode primed us for the new season, however, we ought to issue a MAJOR SPOILER WARNING. The conclusion of Season 3 reveals that the doors the ghosts long believed led to the afterlife have actually been leading to another liminal space, a strange forest realm whose rules remain unclear. The finale also reveals that the ghosts can now travel beyond the boundaries of Split River High, though how far they can go – or for how long – remains a mystery.
Until the finale, the ghosts also believed they could not be seen by the living — as themselves, that is. They certainly had evidence that a ghost could push a living person’s spirit out of their body and take it over. But it isn’t until Quinn (Ci Hang Ma) and Rhonda (Sarah Yarkin) discover they can make themselves both visible and audible to present-day Split River High students that it becomes clear something has changed. The ability lasted only a matter of seconds, but can they figure out how to extend it indefinitely?
Then there’s Alfred Van Heidt, a corrupt politician whose spirit has been jumping from body to body since the early 1900s, and who is now inhabiting Maddie’s mother (Maria Dizzia). Before meeting Van Heidt, it hadn’t necessarily occurred to Maddie and her friends that possession could be anything other than an accident involving a couple of desperate teens. Now they know that at least one other spirit has used possession both deliberately and maliciously. How many others like Van Heidt are out there, and what might they be doing in the world of the living?
Season 3 opens up all kinds of new possibilities for the supernatural world of School Spirits. Season 4 is sure to finally give us some answers.

Nate Trinrud and Megan Trinrud created School Spirits and serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Star Peyton List is also an executive producer.
Oliver Goldstick, whose credits include Pretty Little Liars and Bridgerton, returns as a consultant for Season 4. School Spirits is produced by Paramount Television Studios.
