Who is fighting at UFC 336?

Joshua Van vs. Manel Kape — flyweight championship

Champ Joshua Van (18-2-0) enters this fight looking for his third successful defense of his flyweight title, following wins over Tatsuro Taira and Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 328 and UFC 331, respectively. Both of those wins were dominant, with the Myanmar-born Van beating Taira by TKO, and Pantoja by unanimous decision.

#2 Manel Kape (23-7-0) enters this fight with momentum as well. He’s won four consecutive bouts, most recently beating both Brandon Royval and Kyoji Horiguchi by TKO. But there’s more than a belt on the line – as if that wasn’t already enough. Van and Kape have been trash-talking one another since last winter, and that tension will finally come to a head in Toronto.

Carlos Prates vs. Michael Morales — Interim welterweight championship

No. 2-ranked welterweight contender Carlos Prates (24-7-0) got to this point by beating former champions Leon Edwards and Jack Della Maddalena. And after those wins, he thought he’d be fighting champ Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title. But after the Russian fighter pulled out, Prates will aim for the interim belt – with Michael Morales (23-7-0) standing in his way.

Morales boasts a scary, 19-0-0 record as an MMA pro, and the No. 3-ranked contender would surely love a shot at Makhachev as well. For now, a chance to wear the interim belt in Toronto will have to do.
