Whoa, Nelly! The official Dutton Ranch trailer has arrived, and fans wasted no time digging into every moment for clues about the upcoming new series. There is A LOT to unpack here.
In the Paramount+ original drama, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) aim to make a fresh start in Texas, far from the ghosts of Yellowstone. Unfortunately for them, the way things shake out in this trailer, it seems “peace will have to wait.” Have a look:
Luckily, fans won’t have to wait much longer for Dutton Ranch, as the series premieres Friday, May 15, 2026. To hold you (and your horses) over until then, here’s a breakdown of everything that popped off in the official Dutton Ranch Season 1 trailer, and what it could mean for the drama’s debut season.
The big picture: Trailer summary
At the start of the Dutton Ranch official trailer, it seems all is quiet on the South Texas front – perhaps too quiet. Beth and Rip look over Dutton Ranch, contemplating their new life, and we get glimpses of what it will take for them to protect it. As the trailer gains momentum, we see Rip uncover a body, and that’s just the start. Next, we’re hit with hints of perilous missions, land disputes, murder, explosions, secrets, raised stakes, and – is that … a leopard? In any case, read on as we’re uncovering animal facts and more as it pertains to the new Dutton Ranch trailer. Let’s get into it.
Breaking down the key moments
The Dutton Ranch trailer opens on the ranch at night, dark and ominous. A steady beat mimics a heart beat getting stronger and stronger as the tension grows. We see the first of our cast, Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone) and Cole Hauser (Yellowstone), as Beth and Rip, respectively, as they sit on the porch at their new ranch, feeling homesick yet hopeful for the future.
Oscar® nominee Annette Bening graces the screen, pulling rank as Beulah Jackson, the rich owner of a 190-year-old neighboring ranch. Or an “acquired taste,” as described by Everett McKinney, played by Oscar® nominee Ed Harris. Beulah already seems to have her hooks in Rob-Will, played by Jai Courtney (Yellowstone) and could force him to reveal secrets about Beth and Rip – key information that could be used to bring them down.
Back on the ranch, familiar face Azul Ramos (J.R. Villarreal) remains loyal to Rip as he, Beth and new ranch hand Zachariah (Marc Menchaca) gear up for a battle.
It looks like Beth and Rip’s de facto son, Carter (Yellowstone‘s Finn Little), is growing up: There’s a moment in the trailer where he and Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) appear to be tempted by love and, it seems, massive risks.
Like everything else, the drama and the danger are bigger in Texas. Life has never been easy for the Dutton family, and now Beth, Rip, and Carter must fight to build their future in Rio Paloma as they face adversaries and roadblocks that will test their souls as well as their legacy.
In the fast-paced final seconds of the trailer, it seems the (dis)comforts of home have caught up to Beth and Rip after all, as we see hints of violence, death, and corruption. Oh right, and the leopard – a sign that: (a) we’re not in Montana anymore, and, (b), we’re in for a wild ride!
