New Shows on Paramount+ in May 2024

The Chi (Season 6 Part 2 premiere) (May 10)
Created and executive produced by Emmy®-winner Lena Waithe, The Chi is a timely coming-of-age story about a group of residents living on the South Side of Chicago who become linked by coincidence, but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. The series had a record-breaking Season 6 premiere followed by seven more thrilling episodes that sent its characters careening between the highest highs and lowest lows.

The first half of Season 6 of The Chi on Emmett (Jacob Latimore) as he struggled to balance his blended union to Kiesha (Birgundi Baker) with his perilous partnership with Douda (Curtiss Cook) – who, in turn, was dealing with the fallout of Q’s murder and its effect on his inner circle. Meanwhile, Victor (Luke James) worried that his past was starting to impact his new role as city councilman, while newlyweds Jada (Yolonda Ross) and Darnell (Rolando Boyce) feared for their son Emmett after watching him make a desperate, life-threatening move. The cannabis business of Rob and Tiff (Iman Shumpert and Hannaha Hall, respectively), as well as the apparel line founded by Jake (Michael V. Epps), began to thrive, while Maisha (Genesis Denise Hale) fought to get her own career off the ground despite the divided attentions of her manager, Jemma (Judae’a Brown). And Papa (Shamon Brown, Jr.) grappled with the senseless loss of his beloved father.

The second half of the season promises that danger lies in wait, that no one is safe – and that every single character will be tested as never before.

Season 6 guest stars include Emmy® winner Lynn Whitfield, Jill Marie Jones, Kandi Burruss, La La Anthony, Vic Mensa, Carolyn Michelle Smith, Jason Weaver, Iman Shumpert, Nia Jervier, L’lerrét Jazelle, Ahmad Ferguson, Joel Steingold, Miriam A. Hyman, Tyla Abercrumbie, Tai Davis, and Tory O. Davis.

Evil (Season 4 premiere) (May 23)
In the fourth and final season of this fan-favorite and critically acclaimed Paramount+ original series, the investigative trio of Kristen (Katja Herbers), David (Mike Colter), and Ben (Aasif Mandvi) assesses supernatural cases that include incidents with wayward technology, possessed pigs, demonic oppression and infestation, a dance muse conjured by alleged witches, and an evil relic. Throughout, the devious Dr. Leland Townsend (Michael Emerson) attempts to lure Kristen into raising a baby antichrist who was conceived with her ovum. David, meanwhile, is recruited by the Vatican’s secret service for his ability to detect evil, while Ben is hit by an ion beam that causes him to see visions of a taunting jinn. In the midst of all this, the parish decides to disband the team due to a lack of funds, culminating in one last confrontation with Leland and the 60 families that make up evil in the modern world.

Along with Herbers, Colter, Mandvi, and Emerson, the series stars Kurt Fuller, Andrea Martin, Christine Lahti, Brooklyn Shuck, Skylar Gray, Maddy Crocco and Dalya Knapp. The 14 episodes of Season 4 will drop weekly on Thursdays, starting May 23.

But when she’s introduced to a ranking system that chooses class outcasts via secret vote, Su-ji must decide whether to accept her status and its violent fallout … or lead an uprising against the Pyramid Game.

In addition to Kim Ji-yeon, the series stars Jang Da A, Ryu Da In, Shin Seul Ki, and Kang Na Eon. All episodes are available to stream on Paramount+ starting May 30.

LOLLA: The Story of Lollapalooza (May 21)
In the summer of 1991, the Lollapalooza music festival was born. What started as a farewell tour for the band Jane’s Addiction rose from the underground to launch a cultural movement and change music forever …

Directed by Emmy® nominee Michael John Warren and executive produced by Emmy® nominees James Lee Hernandez and Brian Lazarte, the three-part docuseries LOLLA: The Story of Lollapalooza depicts the exciting and strangely symbiotic 30-plus-year relationship between Lollapalooza and its founder, Perry Farrell, frontman for Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros. Throughout the series, Farrell reconnects with what the event has become, and reflects on the festival’s cultural significance across multiple genres and decades. This three-part series made its triumphant world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.

Pillowcase Murders (May 14)
Premiering exclusively on Paramount+, this riveting three-part documentary series explores how the deadly but relatively unknown serial killer, Billy Chemirmir, preyed upon the residents of high-end retirement communities and left a trail of death and devastation in his wake.

When dozens of women unexpectedly died at senior living communities across the Dallas area, no one suspected the reason: that a cold-blooded and alarmingly prolific murderer was targeting one of the most vulnerable populations: elderly women. Pillowcase Murders exposes the shocking oversights and security failures that allowed Chemirmir to  pursue his reign of terror unimpeded for nearly two years. Only a few individuals – including next of kin, security guards, and a dedicated, observant group of Plano police officers – were able to pull the fractured pieces together and eventually expose the monster among them, a man who stalked and violently smothered dozens of victims with their own pillows. Once the horrific truth about these women’s deaths came to light, outraged family members demanded justice from Chemirmir, as well as accountability from those who stood by and did nothing as the body count rose.

All three episodes of Pillowcase Murders drop May 14.

Special guest star Ben Schwartz reprises his role as Sonic the Hedgehog. Special guest stars Tika Sumpter and Colleen O’Shaughnessey reprise their roles as Maddie and Tails, respectively, too.

All of the key creative team from the previous films have returned for the series, including the films’ director/executive producer Jeff Fowler, who directed the pilot episode and helped transition the film's signature cinematic animation style to television, as well as Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, John Whittington, and Toru Nakahara, who serve as executive producers along with Idris Elba. Additional directors for the series include Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker.
