What is Scream 7 about?
In Scream 7, Sidney (Neve Campbell) once again is pulled into the nightmare she has spent years trying to escape. When a new Ghostface killer emerges, the attacks become deeply personal, targeting the people Sidney loves most – including her daughter Tatum, played by Isabel May (1883).
The cast brings together legacy favorites and newer franchise stars, including Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, McKenna Grace (Regretting You), Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown, among others. Fair warning: Don’t get too attached to anyone.
Scream 7 was released theatrically on Feb 27, 2026. The movie is rated R for strong bloody violence, gore, and language.
Do you need to watch the earlier Scream movies first?
No. You don’t need to have watched the earlier Scream movies to understand Scream 7. Whether you’re a first-timer to the franchise, have seen a few of the films, or have binge-watched the whole saga more than once, Scream 7 will frighten, entertain, and – most importantly – make sense.
That said, longtime fans will definitely pick up on a bit more than the novice viewer. The film is filled with callbacks, character history, and layered references that reward anyone familiar with the earlier entries.
If you want the full experience, we’d argue the Scream franchise is best watched in chronological order, by release date. Here’s the list of movies:
- Scream (1996)
- Scream 2 (1997)
- Scream 3 (2000)
- Scream 4 (2011)
- Scream (2022)
- Scream VI (2023)
- Scream 7 (2026)
As of publication, the first six Scream movies are streaming now on Paramount+. And, lucky for you, as of the streaming debut of Scream 7, on Thursday, May 28, 2026, all of the Scream movies will be streaming on Paramount+.
