1. Babylon

Damien Chazelle’s (La La Land) Babylon follows a group of actors, musicians, and filmmakers navigating Hollywood as the movie business shifts from silent films to sound in the late 1920s. Mexican actor Diego Calva stars as Manny Torres, an aspiring filmmaker and Mexican immigrant who works his way into the industry alongside Nellie LaRoy (Margot Robbie) and Jack Conrad (Brad Pitt).

2. Winter Spring Summer or Fall

Jenna Ortega (Scream, Scream VI) stars as Remi, a high-school senior preparing to attend Harvard. She has it all figured out – that is until she meets Barnes (Percy Hynes White), a classmate who lives moment to moment and is considering a gap year. As their love grows, Remi weighs the future she planned against the relationship developing between them.

3. 80 for Brady

Puerto Rican actress and EGOT-honored legend Rita Moreno, the first Latina to win an Oscar® (for her portrayal of Anita in 1961’s West Side Story) shines in this 2023 crowd-pleasing comedy about four friends (played by Moreno, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Sally Field) who head to Houston to see Tom Brady and the New England Patriots play in Super Bowl LI.

4. Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado

For years now, the Dora the Explorer franchise has introduced generations of kids to a Latina heroine who moves between English and Spanish – and who’s always up for adventure. Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado is the series’ latest live-action movie. In it, Samantha Lorraine plays a 16-year-old Dora. The intrepid explorer heads into the Amazon with Diego, Boots, and new friends to search for the ancient treasure Sol Dorado. Want more Dora? 5. Frida

Salma Hayek stars as Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in the 2002 biographical film Frida. The movie follows Kahlo’s life, her work as an artist, and her relationship with fellow Mexican painter Diego Rivera.

Kahlo turned experiences from her own life, including her physical pain, relationships, and Mexican identity, into paintings that remain closely associated with her work. Hayek also produced the film, and received an Oscar® nomination for her performance.
