The CBS Original drama Sheriff Country returns for Season 2 on Friday, Oct. 9, at 8 PM ET/PT, on CBS and streams on Paramount+. Emmy® nominee Morena Baccarin returns as the formidable, straight-shooting Sheriff Mickey Fox. The other returning stars will look familiar to fans as well, with W. Earl Brown playing Wes Fox, Mickey’s ex-con father. Christopher Gorham is back as Mickey’s ex-husband Travis Fraley, a lawyer and father to their daughter Skye.
As for Mickey’s work family, Matt Lauria returns as Deputy Nathan Boone, Mickey’s partner who cares deeply for her and the town of Edgewater. Michele Weaver is back as Deputy Cassidy Campbell, a trusted officer with a troubled past and a strong connection to Mickey.
Fans will be excited to see that Rachel Ticotin will also return this season as Eva Santos/Maria Fox. It was revealed in the Season 1 finale, “Mexico,” that DEA official Eva Santos is Mickey’s mother Maria Fox, whom Mickey and Wes both believed had died.
Which cast members were promoted?
Two Sheriff Country cast members were promoted from Season 1 recurring roles to Season 2 series regulars: Amanda Arcuri as Skye Fraley and Ian Quinlan as Hank Iglesias.
Amanda Arcuri plays Skye Fraley, the daughter of Mickey and Travis. She is a former drug addict trying to stay on the path of recovery while dealing with a murder investigation, the loss of her cousin, shocking family betrayals, and more.
Ian Quinlan plays Deputy Hank Iglesias. He works in Mickey’s department and has a special bond with fellow coworker Cassidy.
How did Season 1 end?
In the Sheriff Country Season 1 finale, Mickey discovers her DEA agent boyfriend, Alec Kane (Wes Chatham), is a dirty cop working with her ex-sister-in-law Miranda Fraley (Kelli O’Hara).
A confrontation between Mickey and Alec leads to a shootout where Deputy Boone takes a bullet, and DEA Deputy Director Eva Santos (Rachel Ticotin) kills Alec. Boone survives, and Santos delivers a surprising confession that she is Mickey’s presumed-dead mother. She also wants her and her father Wes to team up on a new mission to take down the Bulgarian cartel. A tricky mission and family revelation pave the way for a dramatic Season 2.
What will Season 2 be about?
An official Sheriff Country Season 2 synopsis has not yet been revealed, but several storylines were introduced in the Season 1 finale. Eva wants Mickey and her father to partner on a new mission with the DEA to take down the Bulgarian cartel, which has invaded the small town of Edgewater.
Showrunner Matt Lopez shared more on Season 2 after the Season 1 finale aired, and revealed there will be a time jump and a lot of unpacking when it comes to Eva Santos, her presumed death, and exit from Mickey and Wes’ lives. The new season will also continue to explore the investigation involving Fraley Horizons.
Will there be more Fire Country crossovers?
