How does Season 4 begin?
In the first episode of Elsbeth Season 4, “Crazy in Love,” Elsbeth crosses paths with renowned marriage counselor Serena Collyder (guest star Nicole Scherzinger), whose cool demeanor hides a murderous and messy passion. Meanwhile, Elsbeth’s son Teddy (Ben Levi Ross) sets a wedding date for his upcoming nuptials with Roy (Hayward Leach), and Gloria Reuben returned as Claudia Payne, Captain C.W. Wagner’s wife.
In Season 4, Elsbeth balances the emotional arcs and relationships between the main cast with thrills of that week’s case. Elsbeth faces a new set of fresh mysteries, family drama, and new pressures at the 11th Precinct, led by her boss Captain C.W. Wagner (Wendell Pierce).
The new season will bring fans even more show-how-they-catch-’em style mysteries with eccentric suspects, often played by major guest stars. Actors set for pivotal roles in Season 4 include Nicole Scherzinger, Nicholas Braun, Jemima Kirke in juicy guest spots. Christine Ebersole joins in a recurring role as Elsbeth’s mother, Lydia.
Who’s in the cast?
Here is the starring cast of Elsbeth Season 4:
- Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni
- Wendell Pierce as Captain C.W. Wagner
Who makes the show?
Elsbeth was created by dynamic duo Robert and Michelle King, bringing the unconventional attorney’s antics center stage after charming fans on The Good Wife and The Good Fight as a recurring guest star. Quick note: The Kings are also behind Cupertino, a new series that premiered Thursday, Oct. 8, starring Evil‘s Mike Colter.
With Elsbeth as another jewel in The Good Wife universe’s crown, the Kings tapped longtime collaborator and executive producer Jonathan Tolins to be the showrunner. Fans used to the office-heavy work of the universe enjoy pounding the pavement with Elsbeth and her many totes to catch criminals.
Why fans love the series
Carrie Preston’s tenacious yet whimsical portrayal of New York’s most colorful lawyer has won over audiences and even earned her an Emmy®. Some followed Preston over from The Good Wife universe, but many have dropped into Elsbeth’s world from scratch and become staunch fans.
Taking a page out of Detective Columbo’s classic book, the show nails the very difficult structure of a reverse whodunit. High-profile guest stars serving as suspects or the slain make each immediate murder reveal a highlight of the episode. Elsbeth brings a lightness and humor to the often gritty, New York City crime archetypes. Her wit (and nosiness) help the audience root for her as she follows her gut right to the killer.
What happens at the end of Season 3?
Spoiler alert! Slight spoilers from Elsbeth Season 3 are ahead. If you’re not caught up, watch now on Paramount+.
Season 3 ends with Elsbeth’s romance with her Scottish beau, Angus (Ioan Gruffudd), going kaput. This freed Elsbeth up to be briefly wooed and disarmed by the charming Mayor Alec Bloom (Ivan Hernandez) during his not-so-honest campaign.
