Who’s on the fight card for UFC 324?

The fight card for UFC 324 boasted a main event of Justin Gaethje taking on Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett in an interim UFC lightweight title fight. The co-main event featured former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley battling Song Yadong. 

As of Friday’s weigh-in, there were 12 scheduled fights on the UFC 324 fight card. The Hernandez vs. Johnson lightweight bout. set for the early prelims, was canceled on the day of the event. In the end, UFC 324 featured 11 fights.

The official weigh-in for the fighters for UFC 324 was held Friday. Two fighters, Deiveson Figueiredo, a bantamweight in a prelims bout, and Alex Perez, a flyweight who was on the prelims card, missed weight for their respective divisions. But their bouts were to go on as scheduled (although, in the end, Perez’s bout against Michael Johnson was canceled on the day of the event). 

The Ricky Turcios-Cameron Smotherman bantamweight bout, also originally on the UFC 324 card, was canceled Friday after Smotherman experienced a medical issue at the weigh-in.    

What’s at stake in UFC 324?

Gaethje vs. Pimblett, the main event of UFC 324, was an interim lightweight title bout that brought Gaethje the interim lightweight division belt — and likely set him up as the next opponent of lightweight champ Ilia Topuria.

Heading into his clash with Gaethje, fan-favorite Paddy Pimblett was the UFC lightweight division’s No. 5-ranked fighter. Prior to UFC 324, he was last in action at UFC 314 where the English fighter scored a TKO in a lightweight bout over Michael Chandler.
