School Spirits, as the syllabus tells us, is the supernatural drama that follows Maddie (Peyton List), a teen stuck in a strange purgatorial realm within her high school. Ever since Season 2’s shocking cliffhanger – a finale that left one character trapped and another freed from this in-between state – fans have been dying for a new season. And now it’s here: Season 3 premiered today.

What is School Spirits about?
School Spirits is about Maddie Nears (List), a student at Split River High who becomes trapped in a state somewhere between life and death. Unable to leave the confines of her campus, she spends her time investigating her circumstances. With the help of other teen spirits, including Wally (Milo Manheim), she uncovers surprising secrets in both the land of the living and the ghostly domain. Why, for instance, are there so many spirits trapped at Split River? Does the ghosts’ long-time mentor, Mr. Martin (Josh Zuckerman), know something he’s keeping from the rest of the apparitions?
In the Season 1 finale, Maddie learns that she has not died; her body has been possessed by a spirit named Janet (Jess Gabor). Season 2 finds Maddie delving into Janet’s dark past, hoping to find the answers that will bring Janet closure, and enable Maddie to reunite her spirit with her physical form. Though Maddie succeeds, her achievement isn’t without consequences: At the end of the Season 2 finale, viewers discover that Maddie’s bestie from the land of the living, Simon (Kristian Ventura), has taken her place in the purgatorial plane.
In Season 3, Maddie and company will dive deeper into the mysteries of Split River High, work to free Simon from the spirit world, and try to understand what Mr. Martin is really up to. As the group searches for answers, it will bring to light even more secrets and lies.

In a jaw-dropping twist that occurs at the conclusion of Season 2, Simon gets stuck in a limbo state between life and death. How could this have happened? Can Maddie save him? Spencer MacPherson plays Xavier Baxter

About the character: Xavier is Maddie’s boyfriend (on the living side) and the son of the local sheriff. It is revealed early on in the series that Xavier is cheating on Maddie with Split River High cheerleader Claire Zomer. In Season 2, Xavier has a near-death experience, and starts to see ghosts – including Maddie’s father.
Milo Manheim plays Wally Clark

About the character: Wally is the lovable, 1980s-era teen jock and spirit. He forms an instant connection and blooming romance with Maddie when she joins the spirit world. Kiara Pichardo plays Nicole Herrera

About the character: Rhonda is a teen spirit from the 1960s. She is a cynical Spirit High student who was murdered by her guidance counselor.
Nick Pugliese plays Charley

About the character: Charley is one of Maddie’s ghostly Split River High peers. He is said to have died in the 1990s from anaphylactic shock due to a peanut allergy. Before his passing, Charley was in a relationship with a fellow teen, who grew up to become a teacher at Split River.
Rainbow Wedell plays Claire Zomer

About the character: Claire is a Split River cheerleader in the living world. Once one of Maddie’s closest friends, she started seeing Maddie’s boyfriend Xavier on the side. She is initially one of the prime suspects in Maddie’s presumed murder.
Josh Zuckerman plays Mr. Martin
