In Landman Season 1, we’re dropped into the oil fields of West Texas, and we meet the players of M-Tex Oil, including boots-on-the-ground exec Tommy Norris (Thornton), CEO Monty Miller (Jon Hamm), Monty’s wife Cami (Oscar® nominee Demi Moore), and Tommy’s earnest, entrepreneurial son Cooper (Jacob Lofland). By the season finale, with an ailing Monty on the verge of death, Tommy assumes the role of M-Tex president – and is terrorized by heavies from a Mexican drug cartel.
In Landman Season 2, Cami steps out of her late husband’s shadow to assume control of M-Tex. Meanwhile, Tommy (who was spared a grisly fate by the cartel boss Gallino, played by Oscar® nominee Andy Garcia) juggles an ever-complicated work and home life, the latter of which now includes his father, T.L. (Oscar® nominee Sam Elliott). Cooper sees his oil fortunes rise – and his love life with Ariana (Paulina Chávez) move toward marriage.
