What happens in Dexter®: Resurrection Season 1?
Spoiler warning: The following recap contains major plot details from Season 1.
Dexter®: Resurrection Season 1 opens with Dexter Morgan awakening from a coma after being shot by his own son, Harrison, in Dexter®: New Blood.
When Dexter discovers that Harrison has moved to New York City, he follows him to Manhattan, where Harrison is working as a hotel concierge. Dexter soon learns that his son has killed a hotel guest named Ryan Foster.
Meanwhile, Dexter becomes obsessed with Ronald “Red” Schmidt, a serial killer targeting ride-share drivers. After killing Schmidt, Dexter assumes his identity and attends a mysterious dinner party hosted by wealthy venture capitalist Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage).
Prater has assembled a group of serial killers, including Mia/Lady Vengeance (Krysten Ritter), Al Walker/Rapunzel (Eric Stonestreet), Lowell (Neil Patrick Harris) and Gareth, the Gemini Killer (David Dastmalchian).
Also joining the macabre dinner is Charley (Uma Thurman), Prater’s trusted associate, who recruits and vets serial killers for the billionaire.
Dexter begins methodically targeting members of Prater’s group while trying to protect Harrison from the police. Father and son eventually reunite, but their relationship remains complicated by their different approaches to their murderous impulses.
Meanwhile, Captain Angel Batista (David Zayas), Dexter’s former Miami colleague, arrives in New York. Batista suspects that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher and fears Harrison may be following in his father’s footsteps.
As Dexter infiltrates the inner workings of Prater’s organisation, he discovers that Charley works for the billionaire because he funds medical treatment for her seriously ill mother.
Dexter decides the powerful Prater must die.
But Prater learns Dexter’s true identity and makes him an extraordinary offer: Dexter can become his partner, killing serial killers brought to Prater’s mansion.
There’s just one condition. Dexter must first kill Batista.
