Call it a Patrick Mahomes-Josh Allen showdown. Call it a sequel to the 2025 AFC Championship Game. Call it one of the biggest matchups of Week 9. All you really have to do is call it Chiefs vs. Bills, and fans’ll follow.

The Chiefs-Bills game is set to air live on CBS, and stream live on Paramount+, on Sunday.

The visiting Chiefs (5-3) are coming in hot: They’re winners of three straight, a streak that includes a three-touchdown performance from Mahomes in Week 8.

The Bills (5-2) head into the Chiefs game fresh from a 40-9 dismantling of the Panthers. In the win, Allen rushed for two touchdowns, and passed for a third.

Sunday’s winner will keep pace, or perhaps improve their standing, in their respective division race – the AFC West for the Chiefs, the AFC East for the Bills. If the NFL Playoffs started today, the Bills would be the No. 5 seed in the AFC; the Chiefs would nab the seventh and final spot.

Chiefs vs. Bills history

Heading into Sunday, the Chiefs and Bills have gone head to head 50 times in the regular season. The Bills lead the series, 28-21-1. They’ve won five of the last six meetings, including last November’s Week 11 showdown, 30-21. But the Chiefs have bragging rights, too. They hold the edge in postseason play, with a 5-2 record there, including a W in the 2025 AFC Championship Game that sent Kansas City to its third straight Super Bowl.
