Paramount+ is the home of some great supernatural movies. These movies can turn almost anything into a threat. An unexplained sound can draw a creature out of hiding in A Quiet Place. An abandoned spacecraft can bring something back with it in Event Horizon. In The Faculty and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the person standing next to you may no longer be human.

The movies on this list cross horror with science fiction, with stories about alien invasions, genetic experiments, unexplained creatures, zombies, and humans being replaced by something else. That includes the A Quiet Place trilogy, all three Mimic movies, Cloverfield, Overlord, World War Z, and more.

This is your guide to supernatural movies on Paramount+, with info on what each movie is about, why you should watch it, and how to watch it.

1. A Quiet Place

John Krasinski in A Quiet Place
Paramount Pictures

What it’s about: John Krasinski directs and stars alongside Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place. The Abbott family lives in near silence because invading creatures that hunt by sound have devastated much of the population. Their survival depends on sign language, sand-covered paths, and avoiding anything that could make noise.

Why you should watch it: A Quiet Place is the post-apocalyptic film that launched one of the biggest horror franchises of the 21st century. There’s no end to its suspense, and the tension escalates throughout, from a simple shopping trip to preparing for Evelyn Abbott to give birth without attracting the creatures.

2. A Quiet Place Part II

Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott in A Quiet Place Part II
Paramount Pictures

What it’s about: A Quiet Place Part II follows Evelyn Abbott and her children after the events of the first movie. Emily Blunt returns as Evelyn, while Cillian Murphy joins the cast as Emmett, a survivor who has isolated himself from other people. Djimon Hounsou co-stars.

Why you should watch it: The sequel – directed, like its predecessor, by John Krasinski – moves beyond the Abbott farm and shows more of what happened after the creatures arrived. Regan Abbott, played by Millicent Simmonds, takes on a larger role as she investigates a radio signal and a possible way to use her cochlear implant against the creatures.

3. A Quiet Place: Day One

Lupita Nyong'o as Samira in A Quiet Place: Day 1
Paramount Pictures

What it’s about: A Quiet Place: Day One follows Samira, played by Oscar®-winner Lupita Nyong’o, during the first day of the creature invasion in New York City. Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) plays Eric, a stranger who joins Samira as they make their way through Manhattan.

Why you should watch it: Offering a wildly different perspective from its two predecessors, this prequel depicts the beginning of the invasion from the middle of the busiest city in the world. Subway tunnels, crowded streets, and collapsing buildings make the franchise’s central requirement, staying quiet, much harder to follow.

Paramount Pictures

Why you should watch it:  In Overlord, mega producer J.J. Abrams creates an insanely twisted thrill ride with mind-blowing mayhem that serves as both a World War II drama and a Nazi-zombie sci-fi horror extravaganza. Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, and Mathilde Ollivier lead the cast.
