Returning players vs. new faces: Who’s competing?

Survivor Season 49 is the show's ninth-straight edition to feature all first-time players — with the caveat that, yes, we know the Survivor Season 45 lineup included a player, Bruce Perreault, who'd appeared briefly on Survivor Season 44. (Perreault was removed from Survivor 44 just hours into the game due to an injury.)

All that said, the Survivor 49 cast is itself notable because of its Survivor Season 50 connection. And we suspect part of the fun of watching Survivor 49 will be trying to figure out which players were invited back.

And, by the by, Survivor 50, set to premiere in Spring 2026, features an all-returnees cast. Read our watch guide to the much-anticipated season for everything we know about Survivor 50, including a list of all the legends who'll be returning to play.

Game format & twists

Survivor Season 49 is expected to feature 26 days of gameplay; this is the format the game has followed since Survivor Season 41. As for twists? Those will be revealed in time, meaning Probst will drop them on the Survivor 49 players when he's good and ready … and they're not.

Where was Survivor Season 49 filmed?

Survivor Season 49 was filmed on the beaches of Fiji. The show has been set in the South Pacific island nation since 2016's Survivor Season 33, aka Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X.

When is the Survivor Season 49 finale?

The Survivor Season 49 finale date has not been announced. But a look at Survivor history suggests the finale will air in December.

Where to watch Survivor all seasons?

All seasons of Survivor stream on Paramount+ – and all definitely means all. Read our Survivor watch guide for a season-by-season list, as well as binge-watch suggestions.
