The American Hockey League is a professional league known for developing NHL talent. The Hockey East Association features some of the top NCAA Division I players across both Men's and Women's squads. Now in its 36th season, Hockey East has sent teams to the NCAA Men's Tournament 115 times, the most of any conference during that span. Hockey East also boasts the most players, current and committed, chosen in the June 2019 NHL Draft. In its first 16 seasons on the Women's side, Hockey East has sent 24 teams to the NCAA Tournament and 11 teams to the Frozen Four.

A significant number of Hockey East regular season and postseason games will be on CBS All Access. The Boston College Eagles, Boston University Terriers, UConn Huskies, Maine Black Bears, Merrimack Warriors, New Hampshire Wildcats, Northeastern Huskies, Providence Friars, and Vermont Catamounts have both Men's and Women's teams skating. The Massachusetts Minutemen and UMass Lowell River Hawks each suit up a Men's squad, and the Holy Cross Crusaders send a Women's team onto the ice.
