Friday the 13th movies on Paramount+ in September 2025

Slip on your hockey mask, grab a monstrously large bowl of popcorn, and (try to) settle in for a movie marathon to end all movie marathons: eight – count ’em, eight! – Friday the 13th movies. And, yes, as we mentioned, we're talking the first eight movies.

There's no wrong way to watch the bloody saga of Jason, but if chronological order is your thing, then you’ll want to begin with the summer-camp slasher flick that launched the franchise: the original Friday the 13th. Then, like the doomed campers plunging into the cool, clear waters of Crystal Lake, you can dive into the other seven movies, from Friday the 13th Part 2 to Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. So, go. Treat yourself to the scarefest your eyeballs deserve.

Here’s a film-by-film look at each title:

1. Friday the 13th
The first film of the frightening franchise finds Camp Crystal Lake empty and dilapidated. 20 years prior, a young camper named Jason Voorhees (Ari Lehman) drowned due to counselor carelessness. Then, a year after the child’s death, two counselors (Willie Adams and Debra S. Hayes) were violently murdered by an unknown killer, leading to the property’s shuttering. But now the camp has a new owner, Steve Christy (Peter Brouwer), plus seven young counselors, and they're all eager to spruce the place up for a reopening. Surely there’s no truth to the locals’ warnings about a “death curse” on the grounds, just as surely as there's no one out for revenge against those who might’ve prevented Jason’s demise …

Fun fact: Keep an eye out for Emmy® nominee Kevin Bacon as camp counselor Jack – it's one of the actor’s earliest roles.

2. Friday the 13th Part 2
Five years after the events of Friday the 13th, the murders at Camp Crystal Lake are a distant memory. After all, everyone involved in that tragedy is dead, and the property has been condemned. Why should the young counselors at a nearby summer camp concern themselves with local yarns and scary campfire stories? Because sometimes long-dead little boys are actually very much alive, fully grown, and out for blood …

Fun fact: This film marks the emergence of Jason as the franchise's signature psycho killer.  Warrington Gillette handles the role, with Steve Daskewisz credited as the character's stunt double.

3. Friday the 13th Part 3
A group of teens wants a relaxing summertime trip to the country. What they get is a psycho killer on their tail – and, yes, that psycho killer’s name rhymes with Mason Boorhees.

Fun fact: Jason is played by Richard Brooker here. And in a first, Jason's iconic hockey mask makes its debut.

4. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
Jason certainly looked dead at the end of Part 3. But looks can be deceiving, and now the homicidal maniac (now played by an uncredited Ted White) is headed back to Crystal Lake to claim more victims. Could it be possible, however, that this time, he’ll meet his match?

Fun fact: Despite the title, this is definitely not the final chapter in the film series. More fun facts? The movie features Corey Feldman in the first of his two Friday the 13th appearances as Jason’s young nemesis, Tommy Jarvis. Keep an eye out, too, for Crispin Glover as doomed teen Jimmy Mortimer. And Brooker appears as Jason via archival footage from Part 3

5. Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
This time, Jason (now played by Tom Morga) has set his sights on the young patients at a halfway house, one of whom is a traumatized teenaged Tommy Jarvis (now played by John Shepherd). Well named, this facility, considering that more than a few of his targets will end up in half (or even in thirds).

Fun fact: In a cameo role, Feldman plays the 12-year-old version of Tommy.

6. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Jason (now played by C. J. Graham) is dead – vanquished by Tommy Jarvis (now played by Thom Mathews). Tommy’s sure of it. But years after dispatching the masked killer that so many others died trying to defeat, Tommy feels a creeping fear that Jason might not actually be deceased …

7. Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Ever since Jason (now played by Kane Hodder) became trapped at the bottom of Crystal Lake, the nearby summer camp has operated without a hitch … and without a murder. But this time out, one of the campers has brought more than sunscreen and shower shoes to the cabins: She’s brought a deadly secret.

8. Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
The Big Apple’s in big trouble, as the indestructible psycho-fiend Jason (Hodder) hits the road to New York City … and paints the town red.
