Mother’s Day can bring up more than one feeling at once. And, as coincidence would have it, so does The Madison.
Here are three reasons to watch the acclaimed Paramount+ original drama series from Taylor Sheridan, and starring Michelle Pfeiffer on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10. Should you watch with your mom? Your group of mom friends? That’s entirely up to you. We’re just here to give you options to spruce up your special occasion. Consider it our gift to you!
1. Mothers feel real here
The Madison isn’t exclusively about the mothers of the Clyburn family, but they sure do make their presence felt. Led by Pfeiffer’s Stacy, the Clyburn women are seen doing their best to hold their families together, even when everything – and everyone – seems to want to fall apart. Just like in real messy life.
2. It captures the things people carry
A word said years ago. A memory that never left. A look that says more than a speech. The Madison is a quiet, heartfelt drama that builds its story from pieces like this.
3. It stays with you after it ends
We could’ve just written that Pfeiffer’s performance stays with you, which it does, but, really, it’s the whole series that’s hard to shake. From the breathtaking Montana outdoors to the heartbreaking twists, The Madison doesn’t skimp on anything, including hornet stings. (And, on that last note, the hornet sting scene has most definitely stayed with us: If you think we’re ever going to blithely use an outhouse now without first seeing if there’s a nest around, well, then you are wrong!)
