Marshals is an instant hit – and, as proof, just weeks after its debut, the CBS Original drama from Taylor Sheridan and the world of Yellowstone has been renewed for a second season.
Marshals airs on CBS, and streams on Paramount+. The new show stars Luke Grimes reprising his Yellowstone role of Kayce Dutton as Kayce joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana.
You can say the move worked out. The March 1, 2026, premiere episode of Marshals, “Piya Wiconi,” scored more than 20 million multiplatform viewers, the biggest viewing number for a CBS Original without an NFL football lead-in since 2017. And not only that, the Marshals pilot made history as the most-streamed CBS episode on Paramount+ ever.
“Marshals delivered a breakout performance, capturing a massive audience across platforms and quickly establishing itself as one of TV’s most powerful new series,” said CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach.
Sheridan, who co-created Yellowstone, and is the force behind several hit Paramount+ original dramas, is an executive producer on the series.
Marshals joins a growing list of CBS shows renewed for the 2026-2027 TV season, which includes Tracker, Matlock, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, and Fire Country.
When Marshals Season 2 could premiere
At this time, no premiere date has been announced for Marshals Season 2. New seasons of CBS shows generally launch in the fall, so we’re likely looking at Fall 2026 for the second season launch.
Who could return in the Marshals Season 2 cast?
Will the full Marshals cast be back for Season 2? Well, fans can expect to see Luke Grimes return as Kayce Dutton, and Logan Marshall-Green come back as his pal Pete Calvin. Kayce’s son, Tate (Brecken Merrill), and other mainstays Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) are also expected to return.
