After eight seasons, The Chi has come to an end, with its series finale arriving on Paramount+ (Paramount+ Premium plan) on Friday, July 24. Lena Waithe’s hit SHOWTIME® drama follows life on Chicago’s South Side through the eyes of Emmett, Kiesha, Victor, Tiff, and many, many others. 1. MobLand
What it’s about: MobLand is about the Harrigans. So, who are the Harrigans? Glad you asked. The Harrigans are a crime family, and MobLand follows its members as they fight to protect their criminal empire from rival gangs, as well as threats from within their own organization. Tom Hardy stars as Harry Da Souza, fixer for the Harrigan family, while Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren star as heads of the crime clan, Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, respectively.
Why you should watch it: If you like the power struggles in The Chi, MobLand offers another story where loyalty, or lack thereof, shapes every decision. Allegiance is rewarded, and violence is often the consequence of betrayal. Even family members and close friends are not excluded from this mindset; one traitorous move, and they’re out of their benefactor’s good graces – a dangerous place to be.

What it’s about: This Emmy®-nominated CBS daytime drama centers on the Duprees, a prominent Black family living in an affluent gated community outside of Washington, D.C. The series follows multiple generations of Duprees and neighboring families as they navigate marriage, ambition, family expectations, and long-held secrets.
Why you should watch it: Like The Chi, Beyond the Gates focuses on the ways in which families and communities influence each other – and not always for the better. What it’s about: Based on Carl Weber’s best-selling novels, Carl Weber’s The Family Business follows the Duncan family, owners of a luxury car dealership that serves as the front for a criminal enterprise. Ernie Hudson stars as Lavernius “L.C.” Duncan alongside Valarie Pettiford, Darrin Dewitt Henson, Sean Ringgold, and Arrington Foster.
Why you should watch it: If you enjoy the balance of family drama and criminal conflict in The Chi, this series explores many of the same ideas. The Duncans must protect their business and one another while dealing with rival organizations and internal disagreements.
