Frisco King is connected to Tulsa King via Russell Lee Washington Jr., known as Lee, and Dwight Manfredi. Lee and Dwight met in federal prison. Dwight saved Lee’s life about 20 years prior to the events of Tulsa King. Dwight knows Lee as a man of honor, and a hitman of distinction –  “the best there ever was,” he says in “Dead Weight,” the Season 3 episode of Tulsa King.  

What was Frisco King previously called?

Frisco King was formerly known as NOLA King – and not for nothing. Frisco King‘s central character, Russell Lee Washington Jr. (Samuel L. Jackson), hails from New Orleans. In the upcoming series, the hitman returns home after refusing the Renzetti crime family’s order to kill Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone). But when Lee finds out NOLA is no longer his Gulf Coast oyster, Dwight helps set up his old friend in the suburbs of Frisco, Texas.  

Who stars in Frisco King?

Oscar® nominee Samuel L. Jackson stars in Friso King. The iconic star (Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, The Hateful Eight) reprises the role he played as a special guest star on Tulsa King Season 3.

In addition to the Oscar® nomination he earned for Pulp Fiction, Jackson is the recipient of an honorary Oscar®.    

Is Samuel L. Jackson reprising his Tulsa King character?

Yes. In Frisco King, Samuel L. Jackson reprises his Tulsa King character, Russell Lee Washington Jr., a hitman who befriended Dwight (Sylvester Stallone) in federal prison. Known as Lee, the character is introduced in the Season 3 Tulsa King episodes, “Dead Weight” and “Jesus Lizard.” 

Creative team behind Frisco King

Frisco King is the latest original drama series for Paramount+ from Taylor Sheridan. The prolific writer, director, and executive producer will pen all eight episodes of Frisco King Season 1. 

Frisco King is executive produced by Sheridan, Sylvester Stallone, Samuel L. Jackson. David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox. Sheridan, Stallone, and Jackson are all Oscar® nominees. 

Emmy® nominee Christina Alexandra Voros, who directs all six episodes of the debut season Sheridan’s upcoming Paramount+ original drama The Madison, will direct episodes of Frisco King Season 1, along with Michael Friedman, another longtime Sheridan collaborator. 

Sheridan is the force behind several hit Paramount+ hit dramas. Among his considerable credits, he is the creator of Tulsa King, Lioness, and the Yellowstone origin stories 1883 and 1923, and the co-creator of Landman and Mayor of Kingstown.
