Everything You Need To Know About The Road Season 1
This new music competition show truly sings …
Posted on Nov 3, 2025 | 09:00am
You’ve seen shows about aspiring singers competing for a big prize, but you’ve probably never seen one quite like The Road. The CBS competition show dispenses with the usual music-show rigamarole of auditions and cast selections, and launches right into the stories – and performances – of 12 singer-songwriters who are all yearning to break into the big time.
That’s right, there's no slow lane on The Road. From the get-go, its musicians are tasked with performing an original song for an audience of Keith Urban fans. If the crowd likes their performances, the artists continue on tour with Urban. If they don't, they won't. And the tour itself isn't easy. The schedule's grueling, bus life is lonely, and not every audience warms to every artist. In the end, only one musician will make it all the way to the end of Urban’s tour, win a $250,000 cash prize – and get a step closer to achieving their music-industry dream.
Urban is an executive producer, as is fellow country superstar Blake Shelton, and Oscar® nominee Taylor Sheridan (of the Paramount+ original drama Landman – and all the other shows in The Taylor Sheridan Collection). The Road offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at life on tour. These musicians all possess talent. But getting to the top will take every bit of grit and determination they have. Read on to learn all about the show, competitors, and tune-in info.

Along the way, the country-music stars Jordan Davis, Karen Fairchild, Dustin Lynch, and Brothers Osborne make guest appearances. These artists act as special-guest advisors, popping up to offer guidance on individual performances, and the music industry in general.
At the end of the tour, one competitor will walk away with the grand prize.
