Where is the Masters played?

The Masters is played at Augusta National Golf Club, in Augusta, Georgia. The course formally opened in January 1933. From 1934-1939, the tournament was known as the Augusta National Invitation Tournament. It's been known as the Masters Tournament since 1940.

How many rounds is the Masters?

The Masters is played over four rounds. Each round of 18-hole golf is completed in one day, unless a weather delay occurs, in which case, golfers may finish a postponed round early the next morning.

In general, the Masters begins with roughly 100 golfers in competition. After first round and second round play is completed, the field is pared to the top 50 players, including ties, on the leader board. These are the players who are known as having made the cut. They compete in the third round and final round.

What is the Masters weather forecast?

Weather can play a large role in any given golf tournament. Dry weather will give the balls extra yards as they roll down the green; cooler climate or rain will make the balls stick more.

On Thursday, heavy rain and thunderstorms delayed the start of the first round on the 2024 Masters. But things looked to improve from there. The weekend weather forecast for Augusta, Georgia, per the National Weather Service, promised sunny skies, with highs in the 70s to low 80s.

Who won the Masters in 2023?

Jon Rahm won the Masters in 2023. The win was the Spanish golfer's second major victory, after claiming the 2021 U.S. Open.

Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson tied for second place at the 2023 Masters.

Has an amateur ever won the Masters?

No amateur has ever won the Masters. Three amateurs have come close, placing or tying for second.

No amateur golfer has even cracked the Top 10 since 1962, when Charles Coe, who tied for second in 1961, returned to the leader board to tie for ninth place.

Who has won the most Masters?

Jack Nicklaus, the legendary links star known as the Golden Bear, holds the record for most Masters wins, at six (1963, 1965, 1966, 1972, 1975, 1986). Tiger Woods is next in line with five Masters wins (1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2019).

Woods is the youngest player to ever win the Masters; he was 21 when he won the 1997 Masters by a record 12 strokes.

How much does the winner of the Masters get?

Jon Rahm received $3.24 million for winning the 2023 Masters. The overall purse for the event was $18 million. The 2024 Masters will have the same purse as last year's. A total of $18 million, with $3.24 million going to the winner.
