James Corden To Host The 73rd Annual Tony Awards On June 9

The Late Late Show host will serve as the master of ceremonies for Broadway's Biggest Night.

Emmy and Tony Award-winner James Corden, host of The Late Late Show with James Corden, will return to host the 73rd Annual Tony Awards®, live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on Sunday, June 9 at 8 PM (live ET/delayed PT) on CBS and CBS All Access.

This will be Corden's second time serving as host for Broadway's Biggest Night. In 2016, Corden hosted the 70th Annual Tony Awards, which had its largest audience in 15 years and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Program.

The nominations for the 2019 Tonys will be announced on Tuesday, Apr. 30, 2019.

"I'm thrilled to be returning to host the Tony Awards," said James Corden. "The Broadway community is very dear to my heart and I'm beyond proud to be part of this incredibly special night."

Corden's CBS family is also happy to have him back in the role of host for this high-energy evening.

The late-night host is also well-beloved by the theater community and those being honored. "James is not only an incredible talent—but he is a veteran of the stage and has a true passion for Broadway," said Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League, and Heather Hitchens, President of the American Theatre Wing. "We cannot wait to see what he has in store for us this year at the Tony Awards!"

Executive Producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss had a few words for their enthusiasm regarding Corden returning to hosting duties for the Tony Awards declaring, "Hilarious. Insanely talented. Musical savant. Brilliantly unpredictable. James Corden!"
 
The Tony Awards, which honors theater professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway, has been broadcast on CBS since 1978.
