In the all-new series Salvation, MIT student Liam Cole (Charlie Rowe) presents tech mogul Darius Tanz (Santiago Cabrera) with information data that suggests a massive asteroid will hit the Earth in six months—but, as it turns out, they're not the first to find out about this potentially Earth-ending situation.

In the pilot episode, Liam and Darius travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with Pentagon Press Secretary Grace Barrows (Jennifer Finnigan) and Deputy Secretary of Defense Harris Edwards (Ian Anthony Dale). There, they learned that not only does the U.S. government know about the asteroid, but they've already launched a top-secret plan to stop it.

Enter Project Samson, a gravity tractor that would, in theory, deflect the asteroid using gravitational pull. However, they'll need to rely on Darius' premade tech to get it where it needs to go. Check out the video above for Harris' full rundown of the operation.

The question looms: Will Project Samson actually work? And might Darius have his own plan in place to prevent humanity from certain doom?

Watch all-new episodes of Salvation on Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS and CBS All Access.
