Michael Emerson
As one of the world's most recognizable and memorable villains in television history, Michael Emerson continues to wow audiences with his performances. He's perhaps most well-known for his role on the hit series Lost, for which he won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television. Emerson continues to prove that being the bad guy pays off and was named by Variety as "one of the greatest villains in television history."

Currently, he's starring in the dramatic limited series The Name of The Rose, which is based on the international bestselling novel written by Umberto Eco. Additional television credits include Person of Interest, Without a Trace, The Practice, for which he won an Emmy Award for Best Guest Performance in a Dramatic Series, Law & Order, and The X-Files. Also, he appeared in the HBO movie The Laramie Project.

His feature film credits include Saw, The Legend of Zorro, The Imposters, Straight Jacket, and Ready? OK!, for which he received critical acclaim.

In his spare time, he enjoys listening to audiobooks, home d├ęcor, and working together with his wife, actress Carrie Preston, to make the daily drill of life in Manhattan (dog-walking, subway-riding, grocery-shopping) into something humanistic and philosophical. Also, they support charities that involve animal welfare and theatrical causes.

Emerson received his MFA from the University of Alabama. His birthday is Sept. 7. Follow him on Twitter @MichaelEmerson.
